Claire's Hospital Stay: Part 4

This will be a quick update both because it's been a long day and because it lacks a ton of concrete info.

Claire did have the VCUG done this afternoon to look at the way her bladder works and the results are not what we had hoped for. We are supposed to meet with a specialist tomorrow to get some more detailed information, but we do know that she has some pretty bad reflux that reaches all the way up to her kidney. This most probably caused the original UTI as well as the area that the bacteria crossed over to the blood stream. There are several methods of treatment, including surgery, but we won't be even considering any of them until after we've finished up fighting this initial infection.

The good news is that we caught it very early with Claire. She will probably have this issue corrected before she even knows it exists. We'll have much more on this tomorrow, but for now that's what we have processed and can pass along.
